Erasmus+ is the EU programme aims to support actions in the fields of Education, Training, Youth and Sport for the period 2014-2020.

Ukraine is one of the Partner Countries under the Erasmus+, and Ukrainian universities can participate in the following actions of the International dimension of Erasmus+:

  • Mobility for learners and staff – higher educational student and staff mobility based on inter-institutional agreements;
  • Implementation of joint master's programs and individual scholarships - Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree;
  • Capacity building in the field of higher education;
  • Strategic Partnership;
  • Knowledge alliances;
  • Jean Monnet.

In all above mentioned actions Ukrainian institutions can participate as partners; and in the actions Jean Monnet and Capacity building in the field of higher education Ukrainian institutions can participate as coordinators as well.

Regulation on the implementation procedure of academic mobility right is established by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 12, 2015, № 579. In accordance with the regulation definition, credit mobility - study at higher education institution different from place of education of educational process participant, with the aim to accumulate ECTS credits and / or the relevant competences, learning outcomes (without ECTS credits), which will be recognized by the home higher education institution of national or foreign participant of educational process. The general period of study for such participants of credit mobility programmes remains unchanged.

Erasmus+ provides grants for students’ education or research activities and for teaching and training activities of higher educational staff.

Erasmus+ Credit mobility for students is a short-term studying (in most cases during 1 semester) of bachelor, master or PhD students based on the previously signed learning agreement and with recognition of the credits (or equivalent) awarded to students by the partner institution.

Erasmus+ Credit mobility for staff is a short-term professional exchange between partner universities for teaching or training during the period from 5 days up to 2 months.

ERASMUS+ Staff mobility for training at the Department of Electrical Engineering within the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain

In the frame of the ERASMUS+ Mrs. Galyna Strelkova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” (hereinafter the IEE KPI) has successfully completed a Program of staff mobility for training at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de València (hereinafter the DEE UPV) in the field of energy research and innovating teaching methods for modernization of the 2nd (MSc) and 3rd (PhD) cycles of education and internalization of academic collaboration.

Overall objectives of the mobility:

  • to develop collaboration between the DEE UPV and the IEE KPI on education and research within the area of energy efficiency and sustainable energy;
  • to facilitate student and staff mobility between the DEE UPV and the IEE KPI;
  • to facilitate exchange of professional experiences and best practices on research techniques and pedagogical approaches within the area of energy efficiency and sustainable energy for the 2nd (MSc) and 3rd (PhD) cycles of education;
  • to assist development of academic communication between the DEE UPV and the IEE KPI by searching partners and contacts within the area of energy efficiency and sustainable energy.

UPV’s International Exchange Programmes Office of ERASMUS+ organized, coordinated and supported realization of staff mobility for training at the DEE UPV from 30 September to 16 October, 2016.

Professor, Dr. Carlos Roldán Porta, Director of DEE UPV was a supervisor of the Program of staff mobility for training in the field of energy research and innovating teaching methods and education.

The Program of staff mobility for training, provided by the DEE UPV, was focused on knowledge on theoretical approach, innovations and practice of experimental design, methodology and software application for data analysis and optimization in areas of electrical engineering and energy efficiency linked to electricity supply and consumption, renewable energy technologies as well as electricity market and pricing demand response coupled with SMART-grids and SMART-metering systems
